    Lions Tasmania - District 201 T1

Over 1,200 Tasmanians work together as Lions. Over 50 clubs make up the Tasmanian (T1) district. Lions Clubs in Tasmania provide support for a vast range of projects across all areas of the state.

Lions work with youth, the elderly and infirm of the community. Lions are active in the local community doing good wherever they can

The Lions Tasmania district (201 T1) covers the entire state of Tasmania including King and Flinders Islands. This is the only district in Australia in this position, all other states consist of several districts.

Meals on Wheels Association of Tasmania Inc

The aim of Meals on Wheels Association of Tasmania Inc is to advance the association as a leading provider of community services including the provision of meals to people and their carers who have a genuine need of assistance.

The Mersey Devonport Lions Club currently supports Meals on Wheels as an ongoing project. The club regularly volunteers a team of members to deliver meals in the Devonport region. We are not sure how long the club has participated but many long serving members remember volunteering as long as they have served with Lions.

    Gran's Van

Gran's Van has been providing help to the homeless and hidden poor of Devonport since 2006.

In 2016, the Mersey Devonport Lions club agreed to add Gran's Van as an ongoing project. The club has agreed to dedicate at least one BBQ to Gran's Van per Lions year and also to regularly donate items such as clothing, blankets and non-perishable foods from January 2017 onwards.

The BBQ held at Coles on Saturday October 22 2016 was the first to be dedicated by the club to Gran's Van. Gran's Van President Felicity Sly and Gran's Van Coordinator Malcolm Paterson attended on the day.
